This month, Instagram named the new of head of its company – Adam Mosseri (previously Vice President of Product) effective October 1st, 2018. Instagram founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger (who stepped down from the company on September 24th) said they believe Adam will help keep the Instagram community front and centre.

INSTAGRAM ADDS MORE USERS TO VIDEO CHAT

Got 6 besties? Here’s how you can video chat to them all at once. Making the jump from four to six, your friend circle just expanded! Create a group, name it something wild and BOOM! You’ve now got all 6 BFFs at your fingertips and still continue scrolling through the app all at the same time #multitasking.

INSTAGRAM FINALLY CAUGHT UP ON THE QR CODE GAME WITH THE NAMETAG FEATURE

Think of them as virtual Instagram business cards… for new people you meet IRL (In Real Life)! A customisable ‘nametag’ means you can scan when you meet someone new, in real life, to make it faster to follow you.

NEW QUICK REPLIES ROLLS OUT FOR DMs

Quick replies are previously formatted responses you set up and insert into a direct message (DM) to avoid having to type the same response time and time again to different people – like canned email responses, but for your social media!

Be careful though, you don’t want to lose the human element behind your brand that so many customers look for. So pick and choose how you use this one!

SOUNDCLOUD IS ADDED TO THE ‘SHARE MUSIC LIST’

Yep, if you’re a SoundCloud junkie you’ll be pleased to know you can now let people know how cool your music taste is by sharing your current tracks to the outside world through Instagram Stories.

GIFS ARE SLIDING INTO DMS

Celebrate and rejoice because we can now send GIFs to one another via direct message. With this new way to visually express ourselves you’ll never run out of ideas to make your friends laugh. Tamz and I are huge fans of this, sometimes our messages are simply GIF exchanges.

FACEBOOK STORIES ADS COME TO THE PARTY

Facebook are putting all their eggs in the Facebook Stories basket for the platform to become another major revenue source with Facebook Stories Ads becoming available to all advertisers globally.

With anything new, its buy in price is at an all time low so if it’s reaching a larger and more dynamic audience in a new way that you want, then jump on the Facebook Stories Ads bandwagon and be one of the first! Let us know if you give it a go

FACEBOOK STORIES GETS JAZZY WITH IT

Continuing with the Facebook Stories roll, Facebook has now added a music feature to Facebook Stories to jazz things up a bit. With a mission to make Facebook Stories cool, this feature comes along with the announcement that soon it’ll be possible to add ‘currently listening to’ music to your Facebook profile and pin a song to your profile to further express who you are and help people learn more about you.

FACEBOOK BRINGS SCENES TO LIFE WITH 3D PHOTOS

Facebook has introduced a new 3D Photo feature, which converts Portrait shots taken on an iPhone into three-dimensional interactive experiences.

It looks like the feature is predominantly available on iPhones with  dual cameras (iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS). And Tamz, who has a Huawei P20 also noted her phone allows her to do this in the Facebook app.
